城市匍匐于天地之间。
展览将城市与建筑视为生活的载体,探索物体摧毁与生活痕迹存在的共生。展览分为两个区域:耳闻、目见。其中第一部分是主观的记忆再现与重构后转译,另一部分是客观的采取环境样本,伴随着重复循环播放的现场采样音频,从而使部分记忆得以回归。
第一区域-耳闻
展览起始于对八个拆迁家庭以及个体的随机采访,每个采访单位会被询问适应新生活后对所住旧址被拆除的主观感受。这些自我故事的重现以自述方式回望过去。试图捕捉被遗忘、不易察觉的细碎生活时刻,提取庞大的信息成简易词汇,从而呈现部分尘封与遗忘的时间碎片,并唤起个人对已摧毁的建筑的重新审视。
第二区域-目见
视觉化抽象的语言描述边界,捕捉及再现城市废弃再建空间,使观者思考探索其所闻、所见从而所感。伴随着此时被过往痕迹塑造的主体体验,唤起对自身所处环境空间的关注与思考。
In
the Chinese language, two character words are the shortest phrases in the language, which are high frequency words often used in everyday oral expression
and writing. Last year, I interviewed the residents of several houses that were
destroyed by the government in Beijing and extracted commonly used words from
our conversation that represent their current living conditions after they were
moved out from their old homes. These two character phrases were printed out
and given back to the interviewees to hold in front of the demolished building
sites where they used to live and work, to represent their ambivalent attitude
to the buildings and government when making a marked contrast between the
serious background and the daily words. After taking photography of the interviewees, all photos printed in black and
white, and red color paint are applied on top between the prints and wall to
write a word “Chai(Demolition )” when the photos are hanging. Giving the photos
red hues, represent strong notice and emotion, just like the Chinese government
usually use red color to write a demolish symbol “Chai” on the
architectures to mark
down. Ideally, paint should be applied freshly before every exhibition, so that
the audience can experience the reconstruction of the scene.
